Sep 29, 2020
James Carter, left, and Mark Andersen, both with the city of Havelock’s waste water treatment plant, prepare to go out and collect water samples to take back for testing at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, Aug. 4, 2020. Tracking changes in water quality is important to maintaining the health and livelihood of Marines, Sailors and their families on installation, as well as civilians in the local area, who depend on clean, reliable water sources. Water quality checks are done once every week to test the chemical, physical, and biological characteristics of the surrounding surface waters to ensure they are safe and abide by regulations upheld by the MCAS Cherry Point Environmental Affairs Department.
