Service Person of the Quarter, Third Quarter

U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Donatien Lake III, an aviation operation specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (H&HS), was recognized by the community, Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) and his leadership at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, as the Service Person of the Quarter July 28, 2020. Lake was nominated by Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Atkinson, the flight clearance staff noncommisioned officer in charge with H&HS, for his outstanding service on the installation, and off in the surrounding community, to include from New Bern to Fort Macon State Park.
Lake’s impact on his local community and dedication to serving has earned him above average recognition, receiving several acknowledgments in a short amount of time. In the course of only three months, Lake has dedicated more than 500 hours to the betterment of his surrounding communities, participating in events at the Havelock Elementary School, Havelock Middle School, Fort Macon State Park clean-up and other events, Promise Place, Trees for Troops, several animal shelters and numerous church and community events. Lake also serves as the Vice President of the Single Marine Program at MCAS Cherry Point, works as a Lance Corporal Seminar instructor, and has earned the Humanitarian Service Medal for his efforts during the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.
In short, Lake has proven to be a vital part of the surrounding community and the community we have on MCAS Cherry Point. He leads Marines by example through his actions and exemplary work ethic, within his military occupation specialty and outside of it.
