U.S. Marines and civilians conduct live-fire training at Craven County Law Enforcement Range in New Bern, North Carolina, Sept. 10, 2024. Range coaches stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, shoot the new Annual Rifle Qualification (ARQ) at the range on base, Oct. 6, 2021. At the start of the fiscal year, Oct. 1, 2021, the Marine Corps officially introduced its new ARQ. This new course of fire will require Marines to be more independent and self-aware of the mission. It will also include the use of barricades, and focus on positional shooting, providing a more realistic way to train. The purpose of this new ARQ is to boost lethality, promote combat mindset and train Marines like they fight.

Today we are highlighting CWO2 Adam S. Adam, Range Officer in Charge (OIC) at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. As the range OIC, Adam has many responsibilities from managing and instructing 45 Marines that serve as range staff to ensuring all Marines training on the range receive proper instruction. For most people, using explosives is far from a normal day in the office … unless you happen to be an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technician. Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron EOD technicians work by supporting the installation and surrounding communities by locating, accessing, identifying, rendering safe, neutralizing and disposing of hazards, chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear (CBRNE) and high-yield explosive, unexploded explosive ordnance, improvised explosive device, and weapons of mass destruction (WMD) that present a threat to operations, installations, personnel or material. Marine Aircraft Group 26 held their first Kids Corps event to give the kids of MAG-26 an opportunity to see what their parents do, in the Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 162 hangar aboard Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C., June 4, 2016.
