In case you missed it… On Friday, Dec. 4, 2021, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, kicked off the holiday season with its annual Tree Lighting ceremony in front of the Main Exchange. The ceremony included the Wooden Soldiers from The Center of Performing Arts, the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band, as well as Santa Claus! Participants had the opportunity to take selfies at the holiday selfie station, write letters to Santa, and snack on hot chocolate and cookies.

The Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point community takes this moment to recognize its hardworking Marines and Sailors and the efforts put forth to accomplish the goals of the mission throughout the year. Whether you're standing post at an access control point in below freezing temperatures, working long grueling shifts, touring duty or forward deployed overseas, despite your location — home or abroad — you are among family. MCAS Cherry Point Marines send their love to friends and family during this holiday season.

Families gather for the 19th annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Nov. 30, 2018. Among the Christmas lights, elves and holiday spirit in the air, the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Brass Band provided live music throughout the festivities. The celebration included activities such as a Christmas themed beanbag toss, holiday selfie station, a holiday cookie making station and reindeer antler ring toss. Santa Claus even made a special appearance for the children to come and tell him their Christmas wish list. This celebration is an event hosted by Marine Corps Community Services every year to kick off the Christmas spirit by bringing families together during the holiday season.

Marine Corps Community Services hosts the 17th annual Christmas Tree Lighting aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Dec. 1, 2016. Marine Corps Community Services hosted the annual Trees for Troops at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, Dec. 08, 2015. This is the 5th annual Trees for Troops which granted members of the Cherry Point community the opportunity to receive a free evergreen tree to take home and enjoy for the Christmas holiday.
