The Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program provides 24/7 support and advocacy to all service members aboard the installation. SAPR victim advocates (VA) are passionate about ensuring all service members who are affected by sexual assault get the help they need. SAPR offers two types of reporting: Restricted and unrestricted. It is up to the service member to choose what is best for them and the SAPR VA will be there to support their decisions. June 14, 2021, marks the 244th anniversary of the adoption of the current American flag design. On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress took a break from writing the Articles of Confederation and passed a resolution stating that “the flag of the United States be 13 stripes, alternate red and white,” and that “the union be 13 stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.” In 1916, U.S. President Woodrow Wilson, declared June 14 Flag Day, but it wasn’t until 1946 that it was officially passed by an act of Congress. Today, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point recognizes the American flag as a symbol of hope and freedom, just as it was when it was first created. Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina’s, satellite facilities allow services from across the Department of Defense to conduct training such; bombing, Joint Terminal Attack Controller, water and advanced interdiction training. These efforts ensure combat readiness from foreign and domestic threats. These facilities include, Bombing Target 11, Bombing Target 9, Marine Corps Outlying Field, Atlantic, Marine Corps Auxiliary Landing Field, Bogue and Marine Corps Outlying Field, Oak Grove. Today commemorates 79 years since the commissioning of Cherry Point. This year marks 80 years since the groundbreaking of the installation. In those eight decades, MCAS Cherry Point has transformed and adapted as a premier home for the transformation and advancement of Marine Corps aviation and warfighting.
