2019 ALL-TERRAIN UNIT COMPETITION

17 groups of 10 Marines and Sailors raced against time to place in the All-Terrain Unit Competition at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, 25 Oct., 2019. The All-Terrain Unit Competition is a great way for individual units to build comradery and team work. The winning teams won money for their unit’s recreation fund with third place receiving $200, second place receiving $400 and the first place team winning $600. The competition is hosted annually on the air station by Cherry Point Marine Corps Community Services. The winning team, “Bad Company,” was comprised of Marines from Force Readiness Center-East and Center of Naval Aviation Technical Training.

Breaking the ICE

Introducing the new series: “Breaking the ICE,” where Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point leaders take a moment to address Interactive Customer Evaluation (ICE) system comments from the community. In this episode, MCAS Cherry Point Commanding Officer, Col. Mikel Huber, and MCAS Cherry Point Installation Sergeant Major, Sgt. Maj. Paul Mcelearney, go on-location and respond to comments about the base theater, bowling alley, activities around the installation and more. The series is an opportunity to hear command perspectives on the variety of topics presented in customer submissions. The ICE system allows customers to provide feedback to service provides they have encountered at military installations and related facilities around the world. It is designed to improve customer service by allowing managers to monitor the satisfaction levels, good or bad, of services provided through reports and customer comments. Born to Ride

Service members participated in the Circuit Rider Course (CRC) at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, July 24-25 2019. The CRC is the most advanced motorcycle course offered to Marines, Sailors and their families stationed at Cherry Point. The course teaches cutting-edge riding techniques to train the participants on how to deal with real world situations while on the road. All of the techniques are taught at real world speeds, giving the students a chance to familiarize themselves with the techniques while in a controlled, safe environment. This training is intended to reduce motorcycle mishaps for service members.

Quick, someone call a Corpsman! U.S. Navy Corpsmen compete in a Corpsman Competition at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, June 14, 2019. The competition was held by corpsmen assigned to Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point in lieu of a ball for the 121st corpsman birthday. The competition included nine teams of five corpsmen who completed five events that tested the Sailors’ mental and physical stamina. Events included capture the flag paintball, a 250 meter swim pulling a patient, a one mile run through rough terrain and obstacles carrying a patient, a quiz on corpsmen history and a test on clinical knowledge.
