As we kick off “National Police Week,” we would like to thank all the men and women who don the uniform and protect and serve the citizens of this great nation.

Marines and civilians with the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point Police Department conduct a service pistol qualification range at MCAS Cherry Point, N.C., April 12, 2019. This training allows the police officers to familiarize and hone their skills with the M9 service pistol, making them more proficient officers. Military working dogs have been a crucial part of military operations since World War I. The selection and training process for military working dogs is extensive and rigorous; only the best are chosen to be a part of America’s fighting forces. Once they make it through training, they provide an auxiliary asset to military law enforcement units, to include drug detection, explosive detection or escalation of force support. Training is conducted on a daily basis to keep them sharp for future operations.
