Official groundbreaking ceremony for 2nd MAW's first F-35 hangar at MCAS Cherry Point
A monumental military construction project to transform and modernize Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, begins today to make room for six F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter squadrons and their brand-new F-35s. In anticipation of welcoming the new aircraft to the installation, major construction to provide new modernized facilities, renovate current facilities, revamp infrastructure, upgrade utilities, rebuild roads and much more are currently planned. The construction is projected to continue through 2027.
