For most people, using explosives is far from a normal day in the office … unless you happen to be an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technician. Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron EOD technicians work by supporting the installation and surrounding communities by locating, accessing, identifying, rendering safe, neutralizing and disposing of hazards, chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear (CBRNE) and high-yield explosive, unexploded explosive ordnance, improvised explosive device, and weapons of mass destruction (WMD) that present a threat to operations, installations, personnel or material. From hosting the Super Guppy to a visit from the 38th Commandant of the Marine Corps, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, had an eventful year. It saw the turnover of its command leaders. Its community members worked hard and played hard in a multitude of training exercises and family events. It highlighted its hardworking Marines, Sailors and civilians and showed off some of what takes place behind the scenes of accomplishing the mission.
