Saving lives isn’t always running toward the sound of gun fire or pulling people from burning buildings. Sometimes it requires vigilance of small nuances and having the tools to help those struggling around you. Signs of suicidal ideations may be small, but missing them leaves lasting effects on families, friends, and Marines left behind. As leaders, we must be aware of the signs and conscious of the many available resources available to those struggling internally. We can do this by participating in the Suicide Alertness for Everyone (Safetalk), and The Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), or just talking to your Chaplain to see what you can do to help your brothers and sisters in arms who may be in crisis. This year, National Suicide Awareness Week is September 6-12, 2020, and National Suicide Prevention Day is September 10, 2020. During this time, we encourage you to become more familiar with these resources. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 911. If you or someone you know is contemplating suicide, seek assistance immediately by contacting the Military Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255 or the Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. With summer coming to an end and with it an increase of tourism across our coasts, it is imperative for personnel to remember that your traffic habits on and off installation must be in keeping with local and federal laws. Personnel should also keep in mind what regulations differ on and off installation, such as those regarding transportation, registration and carrying of firearms. Patrons can find information concerning motor vehicle traffic regulations in Air Station Order (ASO) 5560.7, and installation policies and regulations on firearms can be found in ASO 5510.15D. As we continue to highlight the Corporals Leadership Course, today we focus on the Physical Training (PT) aspect of the course. Being physically fit is an essential part of the Marine Corps, so throughout the course instructors lead the students through vigorous PT sessions aimed at teaching them how to push through both mentally and physically stressful situations. Through many long, early mornings on the PT field, the students learn skills and techniques to bring back to their units and become more effective leaders.

There are a plethora of different military occupational specialties (MOS) in the Marine Corps; different jobs and skill sets that keep the Marine Corps mission ready. Today we dive into the combat graphic specialist MOS and take you “On the Job.” -------------------------------------------- You’ve seen the end result, but have you ever wondered how much work actually goes in to making posters and infographics for the Marine Corps? Well wonder no more. In this behind the scenes video you will see some of the hard work combat graphic specialists do to tell the Marine Corps story. The combat graphic specialist MOS falls under the Communication Strategy and Operations (COMMSTRAT) occupational field along with the combat mass communicator, combat photographer and combat videographer. The mission of COMMSTRAT is to advise commanders and staffs on communication strategy matters; develop and integrate communication plans; communicate with internal, domestic, and international audiences; and produce written and visual information products in order to build understanding, credibility, and trust with audiences critical to mission success. U.S. Marines learn how to safely operate and maneuver a motorcycle during the Basic Rider Course (BRC) at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, July 29 through July 30, 2019. BRC is a requirement for all Marines looking to operate a motorcycle on or off base, emphasizing the importance of rider safety and teaching the basics of how to be safe on the road. The course is also open to spouses or Marines who may not own or operate motorcycles, but are interested in learning more about motorcycle safety.
