MCAS CHERRY POINT, NC -- Marines with Fire Support Battery, 10th Marines and Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 167 execute a tactical air control live fire range during Exercise Mjolnir Strike 4-23 to conduct currency and proficiency training with student and existing Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs)
This training took place at Piney Island (BT-11), one of the many outlying training fields belonging to Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point. Exercises such as Mjolnir Strike enhance the skills and proficiency of Marines, enabling them to perform vital tasks, evaluations, and training required for the designation of new JTACs and upgrade qualifications for new JTAC Instructors.
The training aboard MCAS Cherry Point and its outlying fields deliver the crucial support to our friends at 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, 2nd Marine Division, and more. With over 2,000 acres of facilities, ranges, and airspace available, we are equipped to train and deploy our Marines whenever our nation calls upon them.
