A Marine with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 366 refuels a CH-53E Super Stallion following a training exercise, March 23. HMH-366 conducted training at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., in order for  three of the squadron’s pilots to be certified for  external-lift flights.

A CH-53E with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 366 begins its descent while carrying a 12,200-pound load during a training exercise at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., March 23.

“Pilots with HMH-366 have to trust the judgment of their crew chiefs because the crew chief is their eyes while performing this type of extraction,” said Cpl. Chris Brantley, a CH-53E crew chief with HMH-366.
