Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina hosts their 244th Marine Corps Birthday Ball in New Bern, North Carolina, Nov. 9, 2019. The birthday ball is a time-honored tradition, celebrating the history of the Marine Corps. Founded Nov. 10, 1775, in Tun Tavern, the Marine Corps continues to adapt to any adversary or challenge. Typical events at a Marine Corps birthday ball include watching the commandant’s birthday message, the reading of Gen. John A. Lejeune’s birthday message, a cake cutting ceremony and remarks from the ball’s guest of honor. This year’s guest of honor was Brig. Gen.
