CLC-21 Company Commander
Captain Diego Castro

Captain Castro is a native of San Jose, California. He attended Oak Grove High School in San Jose, CA. In 2009, he attended recruit training aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego as a 92-day reservist. After completing recruit training September 18, 2009, Private First Class Castro reported to 4th Landing Support Battalion, Supply Company (-) in San Jose, California as a Basic Distribution Management Specialist (DMO).

In March 2012, Lance Corporal Castro deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 12.1 and 12.2. Upon arrival to Afghanistan, Lance Corporal Castro was assigned as a Shipping and Receiving Non- Commissioned Officer (NCO) for the Supply Management Unit as a part of the Material Management Distribution Center aboard Camp Leatherneck, Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Returning from deployment, he was assigned as the training NCO for the DMO platoon in San Jose.

In January of 2013, Corporal Castro was selected to support 14th Marine Regiment’s Artillery Battery Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. There he served as the embarkation specialist, freight specialist, and train operations specialist.

In October of 2014 Sergeant Castro submitted a package to attend Officer Candidate School and was selected in December 2014. He reported to OCS in June 2015 and graduated in August 2015. In April 2016 he graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science in Culture Communication and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.

Upon completion of The Basic School in December 2016 and Logistics Officer Course in May 2017, 2ndLt Castro reported to 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment aboard Camp Hansen, Okinawa. He was assigned as the Maintenance Management Officer for Headquarters Battery Logistics Platoon.

In August 2018 1stLt Castro reported to Headquarters Battery, 12th Marine Regiment and was assigned as the Regimental Maintenance Management Officer and Assistant Logistics Officer.

In March 2020 Captain Castro reported to The Basic School Warfighting Instructor Group assigned as a Warfighting Instructor. In June of 2021 Captain Castro deployed to support Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve in Kuwait, Iraq, and Syria. Captain Castro was assigned as a Ground Mobility Officer.  In March of 2022, he was assigned as Staff Platoon Commander, 1st Platoon, Company C, Basic Officer Course 3-22. In November of 2022, he was assigned as Staff Platoon Commander 6th Platoon, Company I, Warrant Officer Basic Course 1-23.

In May 2023 Captain Castro reported to Logistics Captains Career Course and graduated November 17, 2023, He then reported to Combat Logistics Company 21 where he is serving as Company Commander.

Capt Castro’s personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement.
