CNATT Executive Officer
Major Oscar A. Martinez

Major Oscar Martinez enlisted in the Marine Corps in April 1995 and attended Recruit Training at MCRD San Diego January 1996. Private First Class Martinez attended “A” School MOS training at Marine Aviation Training Support Group 21, Millington, Tennessee. Upon graduation from the Aviation Electrician Course in November 1996, he attended the KC-130 Electrical Systems course at CNATT Cherry Point, North Carolina for training as a 6336, KC-130 Electrician. 

Upon graduation in March 1997, he was assigned to VMGR-234, NAS JRB Ft. Worth, Texas. He served with VMGR-352, MCAS El Toro/Miramar, California from August 1998 to July 2001. He served with VMGR-152, MCAS Futenma, Okinawa Japan from July 2001 to July 2002. During this period, he served as a KC-130 Electrician, Collateral Duty Inspector, Quality Assurance Representative and participated in Operation Northern Watch, Turkey and multiple Pacific-theater exercises.   

He graduated from the University of California at Davis, June 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations.  He received his commission through the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in June 2007.

Upon completion of The Basic School, Quantico, Virginia in March 2008, he attended the Aircraft Maintenance Officer Course at Naval Air Station Whiting Field, Florida.  In July 2008, he was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 12 (MALS-12), Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan where he served as the Airframes / Aviation Life Support Systems (ALSS) Division Officer.  In July 2009, he was assigned as the Ground Support Equipment Division Officer.   

In June 2010, First Lieutenant Martinez was assigned to Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA-AW) 242, where he served as the Maintenance Material Control Officer (MMCO).  He also served as the Assistant Fixed-Wing MMCO during Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) course 2-10 assigned to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron (MAWTS) 1.  He participated in exercises in Pohang, South Korea and Korat Air Base, Thailand. 

In June 2011, First Lieutenant Martinez returned to MALS-12 and served as the Assistant Aircraft Maintenance Officer (AAMO).  He was promoted to Captain in August 2011.  He also served as the Fixed-Wing MMCO during WTI course 2-11 assigned to MAWTS-1.

In August 2013, Captain Martinez reported to Manpower Management Enlisted Assignments (MMEA), Manpower and Reserve Affairs, Headquarters Marine Corps, Quantico, Virginia. He served as the Aviation Monitor Unit Head, Assistant Special Duty Assignment Unit Head, and First-Term Alignment Plan Officer.

In July 2016, Captain Martinez reported to the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California. In August 2017, he was promoted to his current rank of Major. He earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Material Logistics Support in June 2018 and received orders to Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Aviation at Cherry Point, North Carolina.

In July 2018, Major Martinez reported to DLA Aviation at Cherry Point. He served as the Operations Officer in support of Fleet Readiness Center East’s maintenance, repair, and overhaul of service wide V-22, H-53, H-1, AV-8, F/A-18, E/C-2, KC-135 aircraft, engine, and components. 

In June 2021, Major Martinez departed DLA Aviation at Cherry Point and assumed his current billet as the Executive Officer Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Marine Unit at Marine Corps Air Station at Cherry Point, North Carolina.

Major Martinez’ personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal 3rd award, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal 3rd award, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
