With summer coming to an end and with it an increase of tourism across our coasts, it is imperative for personnel to remember that your traffic habits on and off installation must be in keeping with local and federal laws. Personnel should also keep in mind what regulations differ on and off installation, such as those regarding transportation, registration and carrying of firearms. Patrons can find information concerning motor vehicle traffic regulations in Air Station Order (ASO) 5560.7, and installation policies and regulations on firearms can be found in ASO 5510.15D. However, please keep in mind all personally owned firearms must be properly registered on Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point for them to be permitted on base and fireworks are prohibited on the installation. Marine Wing Communication Squadron 28 conducts a live-fire training exercise aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune N.C., Apr. 18, 2017. Marines assigned to the squadron conducted the training in order to familiarize themselves with the M240B medium machine gun and maintain unit readiness. During the training Marines fired unknown distance, conducted weapon malfunction drills and refreshed their knowledge on what techniques maintain the weapon system and keeps it functioning. MWCS-28 is assigned to Marine Air Control Group 28, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing.

More than 50 Marines with 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion, Marine Air Control Group 28, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing cycled through weapons qualifications during an M240 Bravo machine gun, M249 Squad Automatic Weapon and M2 Browning .50 caliber machine gun range at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., Aug. 29-30, 2016. The exercise allowed Marines to re-familiarize themselves with the weapons and qualify on them. The primary missions of the battalion are to provide low altitude ground-to-air weapon support and provide ground security for air bases.
