Today we are highlighting CWO2 Adam S. Adam, Range Officer in Charge (OIC) at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. As the range OIC, Adam has many responsibilities from managing and instructing 45 Marines that serve as range staff to ensuring all Marines training on the range receive proper instruction. A crew chief assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 269 explains the responsibility of being a door gunner at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Sept. 7, 2017. The primary purpose of a Door Gunner is to man the weaponry aboard the aircraft and provide assistance for other aircraft within the area or operations; as well as provide coverage for the Marines on the ground. Door gunners assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 167, Marine Aircraft Group 26, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing conduct live-fire close air support training near Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C., Feb. 15, 2017. Marines assigned to the door gunner position are responsible for the maintenance of weapon systems, maintaining the aircraft, firing the weapon systems and assisting the pilots of the aircraft with providing close air support to the ground combat element.
