Maj. Gen. Jon M. Davis, right, commanding general of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, stands at attention during Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point’s morning colors ceremony outside of the headquarters building June 30. The 2nd MAW band performed at the ceremony to help celebrate the 2nd MAW’s proud history and play the National Anthem during the raising of the colors. 2nd MAW, activated and commissioned July 10, 1941, turned 70 on Sunday. Twice a month the 2nd MAW band is invited to play at morning colors to help celebrate 2nd MAW’s proud history.
