Marines with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit return to Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., after completing a seven month deployment, June 21, 2015. The advance party, commonly known as ADVON, is a contingent of Marines and Sailors from the 24th MEU tasked with preparing for the arrival of the remainder of the force later this summer. The 24th MEU is embarked aboard the ships of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group and deployed to maintain regional security in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operations.
