National Water Quality Month

With August being National Water Quality Month, let’s take a look at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, and the city of Havelock’s efforts to ensure that the installation and local community have safe water to use.

Service Person of the Quarter, Third Quarter

U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Donatien Lake III, an aviation operation specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (H&HS), was recognized by the community, Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) and his leadership at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, as the Service Person of the Quarter July 28, 2020. Lake was nominated by Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Atkinson, the flight clearance staff noncommisioned officer in charge with H&HS, for his outstanding service on the installation, and off in the surrounding community, to include from New Bern to Fort Macon State Park.

2019 All-Terrain Unit Competition

Participants from units scattered across Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, come together to compete in the annual All-Terrain Unit Competition hosted by Cherry Point Marine Corps Community Services Oct. 25, 2019.

Cherry Point Fire and Emergency Services ignite the flame of fire safety at local schools

Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point Fire and Emergency Services visited local schools to help spread the word about fire safety. During the visits, the students were shown a video demonstrating the importance of fire safety and what to do in case of a fire. The students also got to see a firefighter fully dressed in firefighting gear and the chance to meet “Sparky” the Fire Dog.

Working together to save lives

Even if you live off-base, if you’re unfortunate enough to be in a fire, there’s a good chance that some of the 56 personnel with the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point Fire and Emergency Services will be there to help.

Marine, Family Programs' Personal and Professional Development Programs hosts first ever Battle for Business

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION CHERRY POINT, N.C.- A lot of people have goals and ambitions to own and operates their own business; this is no different for the service members, veterans and spouses who participated in the Battle for Business hosted by the Marine and Family Programs Personal and Professional Development Program here, June 2. MCAS Cherry Point and Marine and Family PPDP were the first in the Marine Corps to host this type of event.

2nd MAW Marines graduate from WTI 2-17

Marines and sailors from Marine Air Control Group 28, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing and other various units graduated from the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course 2-17 aboard Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz., April 30, 2017. WTI is a seven week period of instruction that incorporates Marine Corps planning and implementation of advanced air and ground tactics through a series of escalating evolutions in order to produce certified Weapons and Tactics Instructors.
