Among peers and members of the community at the Carolina Grill in Havelock, Brenda Wilson of the Havelock Military Affairs Committee presents Staff Sgt. Amanda E. Goodson with a plaque and bouquet of flowers, as her family was designated as the Cherry Point Family of the quarter Jan. 25. Goodson, an intelligence chief with Marine Wing Support Squadron 271 at Cherry Point, and her husband, Staff Sgt. Jimmy W. Goodson, a platoon noncommissioned officer with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14, have enduringly committed themselves to volunteering at Arthur W. Edwards Elementary School as part of the Adopt-A-School program. "I volunteered because I wanted to, not because I wanted to get recognized for it," Amanda explained. "It feels unbelievable, and I can't thank everybody enough."
