WHAT IS YOUR JOB?
I schedule all the green side training for the crash rescue Marines such as physical fitness tests, combat fitness tests and the other Marine Corps annual tests. I also have to organize and schedule all of the Marines’ firefighting certifications so they can keep their certifications or advance in them.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE ASPECT OF YOUR JOB?
Having a direct impact on the Marines around me is a great feeling and it helps me do my job better. If I didn’t feel like my job was this important and didn’t effect all people it does, I would not push myself to get everything done that needs to be done.
WHAT’S THE MOST CHALLENGING PART OF YOUR JOB?
The hardest part is keeping track of what training all the Marines in my shop need and keeping their information together. It is difficult when it comes time for the range. I could have about 20 or more Marines who need to get to the range, and I have to get all their information to the respective person.
HOW DOES YOUR JOB SUPPORT THE MISSION OF 2ND MAW AND MCAS CHERRY POINT?
I ensure that the Marines are trained to do their job right. We keep air the air field up and running. If we do not do our jobs right then people may die. I also have the ongoing duty of keeping the Marines combat ready.
HOW DOES YOUR JOB IN GARRISON DIFFER FROM YOUR JOB IN THE FIELD?
My job does not differ much from field to garrison. The only difference really is the weather change; it is a lot hotter in Iraq or Afghanistan right now.
