The aircraft was assigned to Marine Attack Squadron-223 from May 1981 to Aug. 1987, where it logged more than 2,102 flight hours. Return of the Skyhawk

Fleet Readiness Center East (FRCE) contractors work to assemble an A-4M Skyhawk on Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, Jan. 10, 2023. The effort is part of an ongoing project to showcase more historical static aircraft on the air station. The A-4M Skyhawk was assigned to Marine Attack Squadron 223 (VMA-223) from May 1981 to Aug. 1987. During this time, the aircraft logged more than 2,102 flight hours in the skies of Eastern North Carolina. Over the next couple of years, this aircraft will be restored by FRCE and displayed in front of the air traffic control tower.
