Cherry Point residents were greeted at Miller’s Landing with a smile and information that the Information, Tickets and Travel office and 27 other vendors from the east coast had to offer them during the 10th Annual ITT Travel Expo Feb. 27.

“The vendors have great discounts to offer military personnel and their families,” said Ella M. Washington, ITT director for Marine Corps Community Services of Cherry Point.

The vendors came from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida.

“This expo gives a lot of great information to the families to help them plan out their trips,” said Matt P. Balek, a visitor to the ITT Travel Expo. “My family and I have been to this event on multiple occasions and used the information we received to plan out a great family vacation.”

Most of the vendors and the businesses they represent are pro-military.

“The owners of the Medieval Times restaurants are very supportive of the military,” said Dan K. Atkinson, a sales manager for Medieval Times of Myrtle Beach, S.C. “We want to give back to the people who pay the price for our freedom.”

The Expo had vendors representing places like Universal Studios, Medieval Times, Best Western as well as other hotels and resorts.

“There are a lot of good reasons to help the families of the men and women who serve this country,” said Connie S. Karl, the senior sales associate for SunCruz Aquasino in Little River S.C. “The big reason is how they sacrifice a lot to help us live free, so SunCruz is happy to offer these families free things as well as discounted tickets for all our attractions. It is a tiny sacrifice that we make to help the people who risk it all to make sure we are free.”
