Major Hosfield grew up in Kentucky and enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 2004 and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island in October 2004. He attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina and MOS school at Pensacola, Florida. Upon completion was assigned the MOS Aviation Electronics Technician for CH-53E helicopters (6323).
Lance Corporal Hosfield reported to HMX-1 in October 2005. After receiving his clearance to work in direct support of the President of the United States, he was promoted through the ranks to Sergeant and became an Avionics Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR) on the VH-60N and VH-3DA.
Sergeant Hosfield checked into Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 465 on Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California in October 2009. He deployed to Okinawa, Japan to reinforce Marine Medium Helicopter 265 on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit January 2010 as a CDQAR on CH-53E. Sergeant Hosfield deployed in February 2011 to Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) 11-1. While there, he earned his Combat Aircrew Wings as an Aerial Observer/Gunner on the CH-53E, while continuing his duty as an Avionics Technician. He then volunteered to serve a consecutive tour in support of OEF 11-2.
Sergeant Hosfield was accepted to the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program in September 2012. He successfully completed all requirements at Officers Candidate School, and graduated in December 2012.
Second Lieutenant Hosfield graduated with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in History and a minor in Naval Science from the University of Mississippi. He was designated a Naval Aviator April 2018 and assigned to fly the CH-53E with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 at Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
Captain Hosfield deployed to Okinawa, Japan to reinforce Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Current Operations Officer from November 2019 to June 2020. Upon return to Pegasus, Captain Hosfield served as the S-1 Officer in Charge, and the Flight Line Officer in Charge.
Captain Hosfield reported to Marine Heavy Helicopter Training Squadron 302 and was designated a Fleet Replacement Squadron Instructor while serving as the Aircraft Maintenance Officer, and promoted to the rank of Major.
Major Hosfield’s personal awards include the Air Medal with bronze numeral 4 device, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 1 gold star device, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 2 gold star device.
