U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Andrew King/Released 181031-M-WM087-0027.JPG
Nov 5, 2018
Matt Doster, a maintenance worker at a commercial boat-fixing company, drives a giant lift carrying “Oscar,” a 75-foot Landing Craft Mechanized ship operated by U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to the Navy Boat Docks at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Oct. 31, 2018. The ship underwent annual maintenance at a commercial boat yard near Beaufort, N.C., to maintain readiness and ensure all existing deficiencies were fixed. Barnacles were blasted off the bottom to decrease the drag through the water, the hull was inspected for any cracks or dents, which were fixed, and special paint was applied to prevent the ship from corroding.
