Wesley Overholtzer, a food service specialist with Marine Wing Support Squadron 274, presents his meal to attendees of the Chef of the Quarter competition at the Cherry Point Mess Hall Sept. 20. Burke spent most of his four-year career studying and working to earn his qualification as a collateral duty assurance representative – the highest qualification a UH-1N Huey and AH-1 Super Cobra maintainer can receive."To be a (quality assurance representative) I have to have a thorough understanding of aircraft systems and capabilities," said BurkeBurke supervises more than 40 helicopter maintenance Marines in his section and monitors day-to-day maintenance tasks and flight schedule support. He said he has to know everything going on in his section and every maintenance action that is occurring at all times."If something happens while an aircraft is 'turning' on the flight line I have to go out and troubleshoot the issue," said Burke. "It takes a certain level of knowledge to do what I do.""There is a different obstacle to tackle every day because it is so fast-paced here," said Burke. "It keeps me on my toes." - Cpl. Jones, the career planner for Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 3, says a final farewell to his wife and sons before loading up on the bus outside his unit's hangar aboard Cherry Point, Sept. 25. Jones and more than 100 Marines left on a seven-month deployment to Central Command to replace their sister unit VMAQ-2, in support of operations in Afghanistan. - Sgt. Christian L.
