Carteret County Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee hosted the Cookies for Our Troops event at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Dec. 21, 2017. USMC pilot receives Air Medal
Maj. Gen. Matthew Glavy (right) speaks about Capt. Craig Nygaard after awarding Nygaard the Air Medal at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., June 26, 2017. Nygaard was awarded this medal for operations conducted during Operation Inherent Resolve while assigned to Marine Attack Squadron 231, Marine Aircraft Group 14, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. While forward deployed, Nygaard volunteered to return home early in order to deploy with a detachment from Marine Attack Squadron 542, MAG -14, 2nd MAW in support of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s mission. Glavy is the commanding general of 2nd MAW. Nygaard is an AV-8B Harrier pilot assigned to VMA-542.

MACG-28 hosts first athletic combine
Marine Air Control Group 28 hosted their first athletic combine at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., June 2, 2017. The combine consisted of different physical competitions including a relay race, bench press, javelin throw, pull-ups, tire flip, and Humvee push. Teams of 20 Marines from each squadron within the air control group competed in the combine.
