MARINE CORPS AIR STATION CHERRY POINT, N.C. -- Highlighting Cherry Point's warriors
What’s your job?
We repair any communications equipment that deals with radio frequency. We do limited technical inspections where we hook up all the gear and test if it works.
What’s your favorite aspect of your job?
Knowing what we have over what the operators do and how they use the gear.
What’s the most challenging part?
When we are waiting on gear to get back from the field, we have a lot of down time. When we have work, we have a lot of work.
How does your job support the mission of 2nd MAW and MCAS Cherry Point?
We support three air fields with communications, Cherry Point, Marine Corps Auxiliary Landing Field Bogue and Marine Corps Outlying Field Atlantic.
How does your job in garrison differ from your job in the field?
Fixing gear is the same in the field as in garrison. In the field, we work out of field maintenance shelters that prevent radio waves from coming in or escaping.
