Major Frey was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in May 2012 having completed his undergraduate education at the United States Naval Academy where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following the completion of The Basic School in Quantico, VA, Second Lieutenant Frey completed the Marine Aviation Supply Officer Basic Qualifications Course located in Newport, RI in May 2013.
After Military Occupational Specialty training, Second Lieutenant Frey reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 26 (MALS-26) onboard Marine Corps Air Station New River located in Jacksonville, NC in June 2013. As a member of the MALS-26 Aviation Supply Department through March 2015, he served as the Supply Support Division, Consumables Management Division and Supply Response Division Officer in Charge. Additionally during this time period, Second Lieutenant Frey deployed as the MALS Detachment Officer in Charge in support of Marine Medium Tilt Rotor Squadron 263 (VMM-263) Reinforced, 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit.
In April 2015, First Lieutenant Frey was reassigned within MALS-26 to fulfill the role as the command’s Operations and Assistant Operations Officer. He served in this capacity until he executed Permanent Change of Station Orders in June 2016.
In July 2016, First Lieutenant Frey reported to Fleet Readiness Center East (FRC-East) onboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in Havelock, NC where he as the AV-8B/GR9 Harrier Program Held Material Operations Officer. Although administratively attached to FRC-East, he was operationally responsible to the AV-8B Harrier Integrated Weapons Support Team, Naval Supply Systems Command Weapons System Support located in Philadelphia, PA and the Assistant Program Manager Logistics, AV-8B Harrier Program Management Agency 257 located at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, MD.
In June 2019, Captain Frey reported to Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA where he earned a Master of Science in Operations Research, a Certificate in Operational Data Science and Statistical Machine Learning, and an Operations Analyst (8850) Military Occupational Specialty.
Upon graduation from school in June 2021, Captain Frey reported to Marine Corps Logistics Command (MARCORLOGCOM) in Albany, GA where he was assigned to the Advanced Analytics Branch in the Analytic Support Division, Command Data and Analytics Office. During his time at MARCORLOGCOM, Maj Frey earned a certificate in Logistics from Albany State University and completed the Marine Corps Command and Staff College Distance Education Program.
Major Frey attached to MALS-14 aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in Havelock, NC in July 2024 where he served as the Aviation Supply Officer for approximately two years.
In June 2026, Major Frey was assigned as the Executive Officer at Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit Cherry Point.
His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star in lieu of second award, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Gold Star in lieu of second award.
