Lieutenant Colonel Christopher "Donny" Doyle is a native of Alabama and attended the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in Atlanta, GA. During his collegiate years, he attended the Platoon Leaders Course in Quantico, Virginia. In December 2009, he graduated from Georgia Tech with highest honors and, shortly thereafter, accepted a commission in the United States Marine Corps.
He was commissioned in April 2010 and reported to The Basic School later that year. Upon completion of TBS, he reported to Naval Air Training Command in Pensacola, Florida. In August 2013, he was designated a Naval Aviator and was assigned the CH-53E Super Stallion as his operational aircraft. He then reported to the CH-53E fleet replacement squadron, HMHT-302, in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Upon completion of the FRS training syllabus, he was designated as a Helicopter Second Pilot and subsequently reported to his first operational squadron, HMH-461 in Jacksonville, NC. In 2015, he deployed with a detachment from HMH-461 in support of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force - Southern Command to Honduras. In 2017, he attended the Weapons and Tactics Instructor course in Yuma, Arizona where he earned the designation of Weapons and Tactics Instructor. In 2018, he again deployed as the detachment operations officer to Honduras in support of SPMAGTF Southern Command. During his tenure with HMH-461, he served in numerous billets, including Ground Safety Officer, Current Operations Officer, Airframes Division Officer, Weapons and Tactics Instructor, and Pilot Training Officer.
In April 2019, LtCol Doyle executed orders to the Marine Aviation Training Systems Site (MATSS), MCAS New River, NC. In his time at MATSS, he served as the CH-53E Flight Leadership Standardization Evaluator Program Manager for 2d Marine Aircraft Wing and MATSS Operations Officer. Additionally, he served as an augment instructor for MAWTS-1 during multiple WTI courses, senior evaluator for multiple 2d MAW HMH Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluations, and deployed to Bardufoss, Norway to support and evaluate MAG-29 HQ during Cold Response 22. During his tenure at MATSS, he graduated from Expeditionary Warfare School Blended Seminar and Command and Staff College Blended Seminar as the distinguished graduate.
In July 2022, LtCol Doyle executed orders to MAG-16 at MCAS Miramar in San Diego, California. Upon reporting to the MAG, he assumed the duties of the MAG Assistant Operations Officer. In December 2022, he reported to HMH-361 where he held the positions of Operations Officer and Aircraft Maintenance Officer. During this time, he deployed on UDP 24.2 to MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, Japan in 2024. Shortly after returning from deployment, LtCol Doyle reported to 3D MAW where he served in the MAW G-3 as the Assistant Future Operations Officer and Digital Interoperability Program Coordinator until executing orders in summer of 2025. In June 2025, he executed orders to MCAS Cherry Point.
In July 2025, LtCol Doyle returned to North Carolina when he reported to MCAS Cherry Point. Upon reporting he served in the Operations Directorate as the Current Operations Officer and Action Officer for the 2026 Cherry Point Air Show. In August 2026, LtCol Doyle assumed the position of Executive Officer where he currently serves.
LtCol Doyle's decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Navy Commendation Medal with three gold stars. He has over 2,000 total flight hours across multiple USMC aircraft. LtCol Doyle holds a Bachelor of Science in International Affairs from Georgia Institute of Technology.
