Training Advisory: Amphibious operations in Cherry Point waterways; 26th MEU trains at Atlantic

Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, its outlying fields and training areas will support varied training operations throughout the remainder of August.

On Aug. 21, Marines will be conducting parachute operations at Marine Corps Outlying Landing Field Oak Grove as late as midnight.

Aug. 24-28, 2026, the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit will conduct unit-level training to refine readiness and operational proficiency that will involve both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft at MCOLF Atlantic and surrounding training areas.

Residents near MCOLF Atlantic and the surrounding training areas should expect increased activity including military vehicle traffic and aircraft noise. The training could go as late as midnight during the period.

Aug. 24, amphibious operations will be underway in the MCAS Cherry Point waterways, including movement into and out of Bombing Target 11 until as late at midnight.

Explosives Ordnance Disposal Marines will be conducting explosives training at MCAS Cherry Point. Occasionally, the neighboring community may hear loud explosions at the air station.
