Communities of Interest (COI): This
Headquarters Marine Corp initiative, aligned over 400 occupational series that
are currently available to Civilian Marines into 21 communities created to
provide occupation sponsorship or professional identity. By giving Civilian Marines the chance to
increase their job skills, they can further their careers, succeed and realize
how their success will help achieve the Marine Corps mission. Two of the most active series are 0081 (Fire
& EMS Services) and series 0083 (PMO). These COIs provide technical courses
and roadmaps for their occupational series.
TECOM Courses: Courses designed for specific Military Occupational Series (MOS) and are funded traditionally through TECOM or the command and standardization throughout the Marine Corps. They are not just available to active duty personnel, often civilian are able to attend when school seats are available and the training relates to their job series.
Soft Skills: In addition to the training provided above the Training Support Department also provides various other courses. Some of these courses are Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), AED, First Aid, Microsoft Office, Computer Skills, Forklift, and Office/Business Productivity.
