Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point Images

Nov 5, 2018

U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael Coleman, a boatswain mate assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, repaints the ship number on “Oscar,” a 75-foot Landing Craft Mechanized ship operated by Sailors assigned to the Navy Boat Docks at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Oct. 29, 2018. The ship underwent annual maintenance at a commercial boat yard near Beaufort, N.C., to maintain readiness and ensure all existing deficiencies were fixed. Barnacles were blasted off the bottom to decrease the drag through the water, the hull was inspected for any cracks or dents, which were fixed, and special paint was applied to prevent the ship from corroding.
