U.S. Marine Corps photo by Chief Petty Officer Joseph Roach/Released 181010-M-XX123-0002.JPG
Nov 5, 2018
“Oscar,” a 75-foot Landing Craft Mechanized ship operated by U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to the Navy Boat Docks at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., gets taken out of the water to undergo maintenance, Oct. 10, 2018. The ship underwent annual maintenance at a commercial boat yard near Beaufort, N.C., to maintain readiness and ensure all existing deficiencies were fixed. Barnacles were blasted off the bottom to decrease the drag through the water, the hull was inspected for any cracks or dents, which were fixed, and special paint was applied to prevent the ship from corroding.
