MARINE CORPS AIR STATION CHERRY POINT - The underbelly of a C-9B Skytrain after a return to Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C. after its return from a routine mission. VMR-1 is the only squadron in the Marine Corps to maintain and fly the aircraft. The C-9 is a Marine Transport Squadron 1 asset and is used for the transportation of essential personnel. Following 51 years of safety initiatives, high quality maintenance and consistent focus on the basics, VMR-1 was recognized for surpassing 250,000 Class A mishap-free flight hours.
