Sgt. Maj. David G. Eldridge relinquished his post as Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron sergeant major to Sgt. Maj. Eric P. Bauer during a relief and appointment ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Feb. 27.

Eldridge served as the squadron’s senior enlisted advisor since his appointment in April 2013. He is slated to assume duties as sergeant major of Marine Corps Recruiting Station Richmond, Va.

“My favorite part about my time as sergeant major of H&HS was interacting with the Marines, learning what they do and helping them accomplish their mission in support of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force,” said Eldridge. “As I move on, I want to let my Marines know, keep doing what you do, but continue in the pursuit of perfection, and always remember that you are a Marine first.”

Bauer comes to the squadron after serving as the company first sergeant for Company B, 8th Engineer Support Battalion, and Engineer Support Company, 8th ESB.

“I am looking forward to seeing how the aircraft wing operates,” said Bauer. “But more importantly, seeing how the Marines of H&HS support the air station in its daily operations.”

According to Bauer, it is remarkable how much H&HS does on a daily basis to support Cherry Point and 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing operations while carrying out the Marine Corps’ mission.

“I believe in Marines,” said Bauer. “In everything I do I strive to take care of the Marines and their families. I believe in the personal and professional development of our young Marines so they can become the future leaders of our Corps. I look forward to working alongside the commander in leading the Marines of H&HS to success.”
