Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point Veterinary Treatment Facility services all fur-covered military family members, both working and non-working animals alike. Although the main mission of the veterinary clinic is to provide yearly preventative medicine and deployment readiness checks for the Military Working Dogs (MWD), the clinic also services household cats and dogs. The clinic, which is open by appointment only, is available to all service members, their dependents, and veterans. The clinic provides regular check-ups, vaccinations, and health checks for permanent change of station, for both stateside and abroad.

The clinic is staffed by government contractors and U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to Public Health Activity, Fort Bragg, detached to MCAS Cherry Point. With limited personnel, the clinic doesn’t offer emergency medical services to household pets, however, in an emergency they can stabilize MWD’s before sending them to a bigger animal hospital capable of performing emergency surgery.

“We look at every pet that comes in as our own,” said U.S. Army Spc. ZaQuan Hunter, an animal care specialist. “No matter what’s going on, we give them the best care that we can.”

To set up an appointment for a household pet, call 252-466-2166 or visit Monday - Friday between 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 - 4 p.m.
