Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point -- Jen Merlo, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point Single Marine Program (SMP) coordinator, and U.S. Marine Corps Col. Mikel Huber, commanding officer of MCAS Cherry Point, hold a giant check in the amount of $500 donated by the Havelock Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee Aug. 20, 2020 in front of the Two Rivers Theater at MCAS Cherry Point. The Chamber of Commerce executive director and MAC chairperson made the presentation. The organization voted to donate funds to three organizations within the community that supported the military. Donations were made to the SMP, the Disabled American Veterans - Chapter 26, and the Aeronautical Technology Program at Craven County Community College in lieu of hosting an annual membership event.
