Sergeant Major Jennifer A. Armentrout is from Wilber, Nebraska, and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1996.  She attended recruit training at Marine Crops Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.  Upon completion of graduation, she was promoted to the rank of Private First Class.  She then attended a two week Marine Combat Training at Weapons and Field Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina, graduating in February of 1997.

Upon graduation, she was assigned to NATEC at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, where she attended the Basic Avionics School.  After training was completed, Lance Corporal Armentrout was transferred to the Center for Naval Technical Training, Cherry Point, North Carolina, for further training in the military occupational specialty of 6413, communication and navigation avionics systems.

Upon completion of school, Lance Corporal Armentrout was transferred to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 13, Yuma, Arizona, and worked in Work Center 610, the Communication and Navigation Work Center.  Upon promotion to Corporal in 1998, she became a Collateral Duty Inspector and transferred to Marine Attack Squadron 311 to complete training to deploy with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard.

Once the work ups were concluded, she returned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 13, Work Center 610, the Communication and Navigation Work Center and continued her duties as a Collateral Duty Inspector.  She was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in August 2001.

Sergeant Armentrout received orders to Drill Instructor School in January 2002.  Upon graduation, she was assigned as a Drill Instructor to Oscar Company, Fourth Recruit Training Battalion.  After five cycles, she was reassigned to Recruit Separations Platoon, Support Battalion, to fulfill her quota obligation.  She returned to Papa Company, Fourth Recruit Training Battalion, and completed five more cycles as a Drill Instructor and a Senior Drill Instructor.  She left Parris Island as a Staff Sergeant, being promoted in July 2004.

After a successful tour on the drill field, Staff Sergeant Armentrout was transferred to Marine Logistics Squadron 26 and immediately deployed to Al Asad, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in July 2005.  While deployed, she served as the Avionics Night Crew Staff Noncommissioned Officer-in-Charge, as well as a Collateral Duty Inspector for the 610 and 620 work centers.

Upon completion of her deployment in February 2006, she was reassigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 29 and served as the Work Center 610 Communication and Navigation Staff Noncommissioned Officer-In-Charge.  She was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in March 2008.

Gunnery Sergeant Armentrout was transferred to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 461 in July 2009 to participate in a Special Operations MAGTF off of the coast of Cuba aboard the USS Wasp.  Immediately following this deployment, she was redeployed with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 461 and the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit, aboard the USS Bataan, to provide humanitarian support to the country of Haiti after a devastating earthquake hit that country.
 
After a successful deployment, she returned back to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 29 and continued her duties as the Work Center 610 Communication and Navigation Staff Noncommissioned Officer-In-Charge, as well as the Squadron Gunnery Sergeant.  She was frocked to the rank of First Sergeant in March 2011.

First Sergeant Armentrout was transferred to India Company, Marine Combat Training Battalion, School of Infantry-East, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to serve as a Company First Sergeant.  Upon completion of eighteen class cycles, she was transferred to Combat Instructors School, School of Infantry-East to serve as the School First Sergeant.

She was then transferred to Headquarters Company, Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, to serve as the Company First Sergeant.  After serving with Marine Corps Base, she was transferred to Support Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 3, Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii to serve as the Company First Sergeant.

Sergeant Major Armentrout was frocked to her current rank on 4 January 2016 and transferred to the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, to assume her current duties.

Sergeant Major Armentrout has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Management from Park University and a Masters of Business Administration Degree with an emphasis in International Finance from Park University.

Her personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Commendation Medal with three gold stars and the Navy and Maine Corps Achievement Medal.
